TAILS FROM GREECE RESCUE
Greek Easter - 2006

It is Easter week in Greece and the following message I received from a rescuer is just one example of how cruel and heartless people can be; who knows how many more dogs met the same horrible fate!
Yet, we have Mrs. Ioanna Karagouni, who you can read about on the 'Alert' page, interrupting rehoming transports, accusing rescuers of sending strays to foreign countries for research, vivi-section and other ridiculous experiments --  and anyone in a position of power to do something about her slanderous and malicious accusations (which, in all instances, have been thrown out of court)  doesn't give a damn!
WARNING:  The pictures are graphic but they tell the truth!

What do Loulitsa, Loula, Thirio and Lena have in common?

All four of them had been enjoying the area around taverna "Zigos" and the veranda of the taverna in Parnitha (end of Parnithos avenue).

On Friday before Easter, Loulitsa travelled to be adopted abroad.  A few hours later, her sister Loula was found dead. She was still warm, her death was recent.  Vomit of food she ate from the taverna was all over her.  We looked around and found Lena, also dead.  She went to die inside a building under construction. We looked around and found other dogs. Behind the taverna Thirio was convulsing and dying.  We asked from the taverna people to give us milk to help make him vomit up the ingested poisoned food once we gave him the poison antidote.  They were so indifferent and from their conversation we could tell what was happening.  Filtalon and atropine injections were not enough and soon Thirio passed away.

Now the taverna has a clean area to accept their clients and celebrate their religious culture.

I am not going to church to "epitafios".  I still cry as I'm thinking of those creatures alive this morning, a few hours ago, playing with me.

All three of them had been vaccinated, blood tested,
treated for erlichiosis or mange; I had spent so much
time to treat them.  Loulitsa was sterilised and Lena
was going to be sterilised next week.

All in vain! All ended for the commencement of Greek religious taverna eating!

Good luck to you Loulitsa, in your new life. Let's hope that in the future more dogs will have your luck and less will have your sister's luck.
