PHOENIX

babyphoenix.jpg

Phoenix, a baby Black Lab mix puppy, was born in October 2007. We're looking for a very special family for Phoenix as he was brought to the shelter to be euthanized shortly after being born so had to be bottle-fed in order to survive without his mother. His 'guardian angel' is doing a great job and he's a strong & solid-built puppy.
UPDATE Feb 14/08 ---- Phoenix now weighs 44 lbs!! And he just received his first booster vaccine. He'll soon be going to the shelter to socialize with other dogs as so far he's only spent time with people and cats. We expect he'll be ready to join his new family in late March as we need to have him fully vaccinated before moving on.
UPDATE Mar 31/08 ---- Phoenix now weighs 66 lbs! What a big baby at only 5 months old and we're hoping his new family will come along and open their hearts and home to him as he deserves it. If you think you can offer Phoenix a loving & caring home, please email diannealdan@sympatico.ca for an adoption application.

BIBI

Bibi was born in January 2008. She's an Australian Shepherd so will be on the large size when full-grown. Still very much a pup, she will need patience and training when she joins her new family. Bibi will be vaccinated against rabies and have her initial boosters, be microchipped, defleaed and dewormed prior to adoption but she will need to be spayed within 3 months of being adopted. Bibi will be able to join a new family in September so we're accepting applications in the meantime. If you'd like to adopt Bibi, please email diannealdan@sympatico.ca for an adoption application.

SNOWY

Snowy is currently in a foster home in Toronto patiently waiting for that special someone to come along and adopt her!  She's a spayed female Husky, born in 2003 and is a playful and an extremely affectionate dog.  Snowy has typical Husky traits and would likely be best as the only pet in the home as she wants all the attention for herself, although she might be receptive to living with a submissive male dog.  Snowy is a special needs dog because she was bitten by a certain sandfly a few years ago and contracted an illness called Kala-azar (Leishmaniosis).  She has responded well to the treatment and can live a normal life with a medication called Allopurinol (Zylapour) which is, thankfully,  inexpensive.  Per her recent vet checkup, she can now take the medication for 1 week per month and be monitored by a blood test every 6 months, to check that her titer reading is remaining at an acceptable level.  So long as her titer value remains constant she can continue on this routine until the next blood checkup. Snowy can live a normal life just like any other dog, with the medication as and when required, so we would like for her to get this opportunity.  If you'd like to share your home with Snowy, please email diannealdan@sympatico.ca for an adoption application and if all is good, we can arrange for you to go meet Snowy before making your final decision. We also have a couple of videos of Snowy available for viewing.
